I take Monkeyboy to school every morning. In the city where I live, every house has a courtyard and a high wall, so as you walk along all you see are walls and the street. It's an exotic tunnely feeling. There are also lots of dogs running loose, some stray and some pets, but all off leash and roaming.

And every morning as we walk to school, I plan for dog attacks. Every hundred feet or so I come up with contingencies. At one point there is a telephone pole with a pase MonekyBoy could stand on. At another point there is usually a parked car.

I have no idea if this is loony or practical.

Fair point - loony and practical are in no way mutually exclusive.

I should loan you the pony. He attacks aggressive dogs (seriously, I have to warn people who don't control their dogs that my pony will stomp them to mush without warning) ever since he and his sister wiped out the coyotes that were harassing the foals.

A ride AND protection. Have you looked into getting a donkey? Donkeys take no crap from dogs, either.

No way do we have room for a donkey. My mom doesn't even pick up after her dogs in the yard...plus any dog hating donkey would pulverize our annoying yappers.
